A weekend where embraces matter and stereotypes are optional.

Berlin has a flourishing queer & open role tango scene, including the milongas Atípica, MilongAMIGA, Tango zum Glück, Weibermilonga and the annual Queertango Festival. It also harbors a diverse tango scene in general, with 4 to 11 milongas every day of the week. We invite you here, to return or to arrive for the first time, and to share your tango with us.

El Contrapunto is a tango marathon for queer and open role dancers of varying levels of experience and diverse styles of dancing. We value a social, cheerful atmosphere as well as a respectful ronda.

Venue: Ballhaus Kuchus

Ballhaus Kuchus, also called Ahorn-Club, with its wooden floor will be home to our dancing feet. It’s a historic ballroom, built in 1908 and located in Berlin-Kreuzberg, close to the city center. The venue has been host to tango before, including a queer dancing school. We are immensely looking forward to welcoming you there!

Andreas Gierstorfer

I love to dance tango myself with all my heart, so as a DJ the best moments are when my music enchants the dancers, when the entire dance floor moves as one. For over 20 years I take every set as a unique challenge, from small intimate milongas up to Encuentros and Marathons. Though my main choices will be from the early 30s to the mid 50s, there are pearls to be found in later recordings and from contemporary orchestras. Whatever the moment demands! I will take you on a muscial voyage, always making sure that the necessary beat and rhythm is accompanied by beautiful melodies.

Fabiano Borretti

Fabianos exquisitely curated tandas range mostly from the 30s to 50s. Since he moved to Berlin from London a few years ago, you may have already enjoyed his djing at some favorite places, such as Milonga Atipica or the Queertangomarathon Hamburg.

DJ HART & DJ ZAP

We are DJ HART and DJ ZAP. With our selection of Tango vinyls we began to DJ at local events. Nowadays, we are the resident TDJs of the Berlin Milonga “Cafetín de Buenos Aires”.

Both of us come from Argentina, are milongueros and live in Berlin. We met in the vast Tango Argentino scene of the city. Lea Hart is a Tango bassist and singer. Paz studies Tango history, collects vinyl records from the Golden Age and organizes milongas.

Our musical style is 90% traditional (and evolving).  We love mixing cortinas. Rock, jazz, funk, pop, and electro are some of the genres we play the most.

Jessica Carleson

Jessica plays regularly at milongas in Stockholm and has been traveling international festivals and marathons for years. Additionally, she co-organizes the Stockholm queer and double role tango marathon “Alma de Bohemia”. About herself: I always look for music that has energy, warmth and drive, that relentlessly pushes you to the pista. It is a true privilege to serve you this mix of joy, quiet reflection, passion, fervour, and drama that is tango.

Maria August

Maria is a known figure in the Berlin queer and open role tango scene, having organized within this vibrant community for years. Her DJ sets are known for their thoughtful tandas, seamlessly alternating between the nostalgic comfort of the Golden Age and the lively interpretations offered by contemporary orchestras, all while maintaining a danceable shape. Maria incorporates mostly acoustic cortinas from various genres to round off the night. Her commitment to fostering an inclusive and joyful atmosphere makes the event memorable for dancers of all levels.

While our venue may not accommodate full meals, we are pleased to offer a delightful selection of savory and sweet snacks, along with complimentary water, coffee, tea, and a variety of beverages—both alcoholic and non-alcoholic—all included in the marathon price.

We are committed to providing a diverse array of high-quality snacks, primarily sourced from local vendors. Many of these culinary delights are lovingly prepared by members of our community, ensuring that you enjoy not just great taste but also a sense of local pride.
